Show ip interface brief: Shows a brief information about all interfaces on the router show controllers serial0/0: Detailed information about the selected serial interface interface serial0/0: Enters into interface configuration mode description LINK TO R1: Sets the description on the interface ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.252: Sets the IP. Telco(config)# interface s0/0/0 Telco(config-if)# clock rate 4000000 Telco(config-if)# interface s0/1/1 Telco(config-if)# clock rate 4000000 Step 2: Examine the encapsulation on DCE equipment. All of the serial interfaces should be using HDLC as the encapsulation type. Examine the protocol setting of the serial interfaces.

Cheers slot machine. DCE stand for Data Circuit-Terminating Equipment. It is locate at end of the WAN provider side of communication facility. DCE provide clock signal which known as internal clocking. Example DCE device is modem.

DTE stand for Data Terminal Equipment. It is user device with interface connecting to the WAN link. DTE synchronized provided clock which known as external clocking. Example DTE device is router or serial port computer.

For CISCO configuration syntax to check DCE or DTE:

Translate 121 to spanish. R1# show controllers s0/0/0 or R1# sh co s0/0/0

Remember:

Always set clock rate on DCE port

R1(config)# int s0/0/0

R1(config-if)# clock rate 64000

R1(config-if)# no shut

Printworks 2 0 2 – all purpose desktop publishing app. Noted that 64000 is example usual value. You can put any number which you think suitable.

Best file conversion software free. Always set bandwith on DTE port:

Roadblock 1 5 8 download free. R1(config)# int s0/0/1

R1(config-if)# bandwith 64

Equals

R1(config-if)# no shut

Interface S0 0 0 Dce 1

Note: In Packet Tracer, set bandwith for DTE is unnecessary for the network to be usable in certain case. However set clock rate for DCE in Packet Tracer is a must.
